Nigeria fails to qualify for ICC-WCL

ICC- WCL QUALIFIER AFRICA DIVISION 1:  NIGERIA REMAINS IN AFRICA DIVISION ONE AS HEAVY DEFEATS TO GHANA AND TANZANIA PREVENTS QUALIFICATION TO WORLD LEAGUE

The Yellow Greens played their first match against Tanzania, with Tanzania winning the toss and elected to bat first.

Tanzania scored 231 runs all out in 49.2 overs. AR Patwa scored an impressive 76 runs off 97 balls strongly supported by HH Abdallah with 69 runs of 97 balls.

In the second innings, Nigeria could only manage a meager score of 83 runs all out in 34.4 overs.

Tanzania won the match by 148 runs.

NIGERIA vs GHANA

In the second game against Ghana, Ghana won the toss and elected to field sending in Nigeria to Bat.

Team Nigeria could not register a decent partnership as wickets continue to fall leaving the team at 31 runs for the fall of 6 wickets before 20th over. Eventually Nigeria could Only manage a meager score of 51 runs all out in 28.5 overs.

In the second innings, Spirited bowling from Ayo Mene-Ejegi with quick 4 wickets caused an early scare for Ghana but lack of runs on the board from Nigeria saw Ghana score 52 runs for the loss of 6 wicket in 13.5 overs

Ghana won the match by 4 wickets.

NIGERIA VS SIRREA LEONE

In the third game, Nigeria desperate for a good result won the toss and elected to Bat first. Nigeria Scored a total of 181 runs all out in 47.3 overs. Sulaiman Runsewe and Seye Olympio we the major contributors in the bating effort for Nigeria with 42 and 55 runs respectively.

In the second innings, Sirrea Leone strggled to hold down a partnership but could only manage a meager score of 90 runs all out in 36.4 overs. Issac Okpe with 2 wickets and Abiodun Abioye the stand out bowler for Nigeria with 4 wickets.

Nigeria won the match by 91 runs.

The match against Botswana was delayed due to rain and eventually began in the afternoon and reduced to 25 overs.

Nigeria won the toss and elected to field sending in Botswana to bat on the wet surface. Botwana scored a total of 125 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 25 overs.

In the second innings, Nigeria went in to bat and the score was 100 for the loss of 8 wickets when bad light interrupted play hence, there was no result.
