As part of the Federation’s commitments to develop the game across every part of the country, partnership with private establishments involved in the development of Cricket has become a priority hence the support for the Maiden Edition of the EKPOMA CRICKET LEAGUE organized by Dolphin Cricket foundation.
Dolphin Cricket Foundation (BENIN CITY) is an N.G.O geared with a vision of developing the game of Cricket in Edo state and Nigeria at large. The foundation is duly registered with the the corporate affairs commission C.A.C and have been in existence since 2004 engaging kids and teenagers in the knowledge of the game of Cricket. The mission is to catch the young kids at an early age to dis-engage them from other social vices through the game of cricket and also promote gender equality.
The foundation have recorded great success in the past as it jointly organised the first ever cricket league in Edo state from 2005 to 2010 which was tagged Edo State Cricket League sponsored by AAA Foundation with Dr John Abebe as the founder.
Through this great initiative, Dolphin Cricket Foundation have also produced players that have represented the country at various capacities both in Local and international competitions. Most recently, players like Okhide Christopher represented Nigeria at the ICC U-19 world cup qualifiers in Tanzania 2015. Samantha Agazuma, Akhidenor Vera, Agatha Obulor were among the senior National Female Cricketers who represented the Country in an international Invitational tournament in Tanzania also in 2015.
The Ekpoma Cricket league is another grand breaking development for dolphin Cricket Foundation in providing a competition for the young talents identified and also keep them in the frame of modern approach to the game.
Currently, there are over 100 cricketers in Ekpoma alone with kids and teenagers making the bulk.
