Yellow-Greens: Okwudili & Sonde appointed interim coaches

NCF has announced the appointment of Emmanuel Okwudili and Oluseyi Sonde as interim coaches for the national cricket team (the Yellow-Greens), in preparation for the ICC REGIONAL QUALIFIER-AFRICA DIVISION 1 TOURNAMENT, JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA

Emmanuel Okwudili was appointed following his retirement from the National team in 2016 and his experience at the international level after consistently representing the country for over a decade.

He was the team’s vice captain and have in-depth knowledge and profile of the players that have been invited to camp as well as international experience to guide the team as a coach.


Mr Seyi Sonde  is currently a deputy director of coaching, Ogun State Sports Council.  He has previously been: U-17 National Coach in 2002,  Assistant National coach in 2007 West African Quadrangular, U-15 national team coach in 2010, and U-19 National Team Coach in 2013.

In his over 2 decades as Ogun State Head Coach, Mr Oluseyi Sonde has produced dozens of players that have represented the country including the last captain of the National team Mr Kunle Adegbola.  Under him, Ogun State won gold medals in: Bauchi 2000, Abuja 2004, Ogun 2006, and Lagos 2012; and silver medal in Edo 2002 and Kaduna 2008.

  • The Coaches have drawn up a comprehensive list of players for this camp selecting from the youth U-19 side and some members of the senior National team as the rebuilding of the National team resumes following the disbandment of the team in 2016.
  • The coaches will resume along side the players invited to camp on Sunday 5th March 2017
